a poem:
The best sleep
As you rest
On my chest
Heart to heart
Days end nor start
I want you to be told
Why I continue to hold
Onto these contact naps
Instead of those sleep sacks
For there’s no place I’d rather be
Than here breathing, just you ‘n me.
a reflection:
Just you wait…
‘Til you successfully sing a lullaby to your baby. They fall asleep on your chest. Head over your heartbeat. With deep belly breaths. Pressing against their first home. And even you can rest. Without fear or distress. Knowing this is your best. Just you wait…
a melody:
Big thanks to Steve Lacy & Orville Peck for getting us through almost every single sleep session. I wonder what this means in the future with our son’s taste in music. I do want him to be a country music star I must admit, but an R&B singer will suffice as well.

A beautiful poem, and an adorable picture. It seems sleep deprivation is unavoidable in parenthood, sheesh.
Just love a good contact nap!
