Given that the bulk of May is spent in Taurus season, an earth sign, I’ve been feeling like extra grounded. Being creative has been difficult for I have not had the clarity that I’m used to. But that’s because I’ve been a buried seed. Growing in the dark. With Gemini season now here, which is my rising sign, I’m seeing the sunlight once again! I had no insight about what May had in store for me but it was delightful.

Sound Bowl Guided Meditation

I was invited to lead a meditation session for UVA students at Morven Farm during their exam study days. I so love leading these sessions as much as leading yoga classes. Sometimes I miss it but I enjoy not teaching a class at 8PM! Maybe in a few years I’ll be a full time teacher again. Who knows!

Mother’s Day

So this is technically my second Mother’s Day. It feels like my first one mostly because I feel much more lively this time and not in the trenches of postpartum. This time I was better about how I wanted to spend it and gifts I wanted. My husband Michael got me a peach tree, Lindt Oatmilk truffles, all the fun beverages I wanted and wrote the sweetest message in a card for me. I requested a home retreat too. So while they were gone, I got four hours to myself to cook, eat, drink my NA wine, take a bath and get dressed up. I felt SO pretty and happy. We took lots of film photos too. I look at these pictures with so much warmth in my face and chest. I’m living my daydream!!!

Discovery Museums

We are happily members of VADM. It’s great to let Emery roam, explore & socialize with kids. Especially on super hot or rainy days. With our membership, we also get free or discounted access to museums all over the country. So we met up with friends in Richmond to enjoy that one too. It’s like 5x larger than the Charlottesville one! 10/10 recommend children’s museums.

McGuffey Art Center

I’m trying to experience more art in real life than just on social media. I’m also trying to expose Emery to art at an early age as much as we do early literacy through going to the libraries. McGuffey is free and stroller friendly! I liked the relaxing and not uptight vibes in there. A wide range of work. You can even chat with the artists in their studios! I will make an effort to go at least monthly.

Cupcakes

Some of you know that for a year now, I’ve been trying to master the skill of baking and decorating cakes. As vegans, we don’t often get to eat just a straight forward birthday cake. The first like really good vegan cake we had was at our wedding actually! We ordered it from WPA Bakery in Richmond, VA. Everyone said it was the best wedding cake they ever had. It sparked my interest to try myself. I want to be especially good so I can make goodies for children’s parties. I stepped outside my comfort zone and made some cupcakes for my husband’s work party. I made double vanilla and double chocolate vegan cupcakes. I’m proud of myself for making them after putting Emery to sleep! Everyone loved them!!!

This is the most important bit of the newsletter!!! My bestie, sister, no longer my wifey because she got married, Amanda Sevilla, leads a beautifully enlightening podcast called Flourish with Purpose. She’s a life coach among an impressive list of many other things. I felt honored to be invited onto her latest creative endeavor. We chat about my purpose, how I know it and all the forms it’s taken.
