Hello September

Welcome home sweetheart. We’ve finally arrived back at our cozy cottage that’ll keep us warm and safe for the next six months. During this time, we’re blessed with the opportunity of choice. Spring and summer put a lot of pressure on the spirit to do things that felt obligatory. Being forced to suffer underneath the lingering sun and avoid rest out of fear of being seen as apathetic to life itself. But autumn and winter brings nurturing wind and tender love unlike any other.

Have you considered that it’s just not your time?

Although we may wish we are like evergreen trees, we are not. Meaning, we have everything between dormant to blooming seasons. At different times of the year, we can source the best nutrients and support to thrive. At other times, we are just merely trying to survive and pray that we are not uprooted completely.

Personally, March through September are months where I tread through rough seas while being blinded by a scalding sun. That may seem dramatic but it’s my truth!!! On the contrary, September through March are months where I look forward to waking up every morning and go to bed satisfied every night. I don’t have to try to be something that I’m not. I don’t have to go anywhere I don’t want to. I can just breathe and be myself fully.

In autumn and winter, I spend as much time inside as out. The cold mountain air is exhilarating whether we’re foraging for mushrooms or chattering our teeth by the bonfire. My belly feels fuller with soups and thirst quench more easily with warmly spiced teas. I’m more present for my loved ones and my home for there’s an increased need for quality time spent & calm touch. At least, that’s how I see it.

Every day I want to cry tears of joy. It’s been agonizing waiting for life to feel easier. But the wait was so worth it. A blessing feels like waking up from a good night’s rest, sandwiched between my husband and son. Making some homemade apple cider donuts for breakfast. Heading into town to do some sweater shopping. Foraging for pawpaws on the trails all before heading home for a nap.

It’s days like that that I cherish deeply. Because it’s so simple and pure that you can’t necessarily plan for it to flow that way. You have to allow your heart, mind, body and spirit to be open for goodness to flood in.

September feels like a blushing smile with a giggle. September is a charming month. September makes accepting change easier. I love her so much. I hope you are loved unconditionally by her too.
