I am not one of those people whose default setting is to have an empty mind. I’m always thinking. Always. Whether I’m recalling the past, daydreaming of the future, or making decisions in the present, I am ALWAYS thinking. When I was younger, questionnaires were easily accessible on Tumblr or I’d take lots of online quizzes for fun like on Buzzfeed. Nowadays, I like to go onto Pinterest to look for them. My husband is my typical victim in long car rides to these long lists of hyper specific questions. I found a really lovely one while our son was napping on me and figured it’ll be fun to share my answers with y’all in a letter this time.
This was an Amazing read! From the thumbnail to all of the great descriptions you made word from word. I love this, so glad to have come across this post.
Sage-coloured walls, golden ginko leaves and intentionally walking the long way sounds like the most beautiful thing ever. Always grateful for a dive into your deep well of loving words, you've also made me realise that I do like slightly cold days because it does bring out the urge to extend your warmth. I'm probably going to keep thinking about these questions and will spend the weekend asking them of others too.❤️
and back because I just read the 'Who Are You?' ((https://withcarrington.substack.com/p/and-who-are-you)) essay that you wrote in January, truly sat with it and I just love this double intro and the two different ways of expressing who you are and choose to be. Your take on W.E.B Du Bois' double-consciousness is everything. OK have a beautiful Friday you beautiful being!
I appreciate you always Amara! I hope thru each introduction I’m growing closer to each of you and that I can diversify what people think about women and Black people. We’re all so interesting and multifaceted! No need to be shy. Private sure but everyone has something special about them and these questions are nice for bringing that out!
I was so confused for a bit like "where did she write the answers" until it dawned on my that you wrote with the answers in mind *insert mindblown emoji here* this is brilliant! I love questionnaires for myself and for people, one of my favorite games to play is we're not really strangers because of the questions.
Thanks for leaving the questionnaire. Some of the questions I haven't asked myself in a really long time and most I haven't asked hardly anyone. I'm going to use this as a tool to get to know myself and done others better.
So warm and inviting 🥰🥰 I loved learning all this about you —and I’m similar in that I love doing these kind of questionnaires with people.
I just found a fun one to ask kids in particular, soon as Emery stops sounding like a minion it’s on!!!

I appreciate how you provided a very descriptive and inviting tour. I could imagine everything and it was spring to my mind's eye. 💗
Thank you for journeying through and around my little cottage in the woods 🫶🏾

I be thinking I know my inner circle and then they say something left field and I’m left so awe-inspired!
